It would be nice if the line count did update after %upd_freq
seconds, even if no new lines have come in from the server. I
*don't* think you should go with alternate prompt wordings,
because that means you will be updating the prompt again when
the next line comes in (whenever it comes in). The whole idea
is to reduce the number of updates to the status-line.

I think that something along these lines would be useful, though
I don't know how difficult it would be to get the exact behavior
that I'm envisioning.
