Stumbling while building lclient .8b-post

I am trying to build my own lily client using the new sources (including
autologin feature) on my Solaris 2.3 system with no luck.

The problem arises in the 'readline' directory's first module which keeps
looking for strings.h. So I decided that I needed to tell the readline
code that we were sysv and to look for string.h. When I run configure, I
cannot get it to complete successfully without complaining about
install.sh which I can find nowhere.

Can anyone offer suggestions? I would really like to compile it myself
so I can set the default host and name of autologin file for our site.

Thanks.
/Alan/
